by prasoon » Tue Mar 13, 2007 4:00 pm

Hi everybody! I m new to this city and feeling alone :( as i dont have friends over here. I came 2 months back as I changed my job from Delhi to Hyd. I request to all of u to help me in any of the following areas, if u can:

a) Places to hang out in evening/weekends

b) Cheap north indian restaurents

c) Getting a cook/maid

d) Can I get frozen roti (chapaati) somewhere? :?:

As I dont have friends, so any company, most welcome! I like any human being who has his/her vision above cast, religion and state. :)

hello prasoon.......i am a bengali settled in hyderabad for the last 3 yrs. i can totally understand the emotions you are going thru. keep ur chin up boy......cos trust me the city kinda grows on you.its actually a pretty decent place to be in.

why don't u try the frozen parathas available in places like FOODWORLD,FOOD BAZAAR? but frankly they are not long time options.i suggest you look out for a good tiffin house serving north indian fare.maybe if you are lucky they'll home deliver it for you.

Well, it was really heartening to see overwhelming response, as after 8 days I can see 3 replies, of which two are mine.

After few months, I’ll be back in Delhi. Take my e-mail id, it is yesprasoon@rediffmail.com. Ask for a help there, and I’ll show you how the help can be done!!

Hi Prasoon,

So here are answers for your questions.

1. Places to freak out during weekends..... Necklace Road and eat street for obvious reasons. Apart from these, you've very good places to visit, like, Birla mandir, NTR Gardens, Lumbini Park where the laser show is too good, it's from 7PM to 8PM. Charmiar, Golconda fort, Taramathi baradari, Ramakrishna Ashram, Osmania University (a walk on this road is not at all a bad idea), Ramoji Film City and many more. You cover all these places and then ping me again...I'll list out some more irresistable places.

2. Northindian Food: YOu din't told us where you are located, if you are somehwere near gachibowli then Punjabi restaurant at the Gachbowli X roads is yummy..... and almost every hotel serves north indian food. I don't have good idea about north indian tiffins, but you can try out agrawala sweets and resturant and tiwari brothers at khairatabad.

3. For cook, you can always place an ad in any local news paper like eenadu, and choice will be left to you.

By the way Hyderabadi's are not bad in helping people, but bit lazy to respond to discussion forms .... just chill....

Happy staying in Hyderabad and once you in love with this city, you'll never feel like leaving it :D

Hi Prasoon/Digvijay

In response to your request for food, the Mumbai dabbawallas operate in Hyderabad too. Their numbers are 66171000/64525947/9246571122/9246572233.

They serve food afternoons in certain parts of town (Begumpet Airport to Greenlands junction, Somajiguda to Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, Madhapur and Gachibowli). It's Rs. 50 per lunch, Mon to Fri - there is a Southie option and a Northie option. There is a Rs. 500 registration. Hope this helps.

Well, its been 16 days since you posted the query :-). DB hasn't been as active as it used to be in the past. :-(

Where is CAD Bhai - the all time saviour ???

Anyways,

a) Places to hang out in evening/weekends

Pubs : 10D, B&C, Club 8, Sparks, Escape - in order of my preference.

i cant think beyond that on my own :-)) What are your interests ?

There is a planetarium, ayurvedic plant garden, Ramoji film city, hyd film club, rock garden, snow world, ocean park, many things that any city like hyd would have :-)) aptourism.org can give you lot of info. Even CityInfo magazine (Rs.15 mein all info :-)) )

b) Cheap north indian restaurents

Yousufguda

- Sardarjee - Near State home

- Sai (or sri sai) - Near ICICI bank close to HUDA/Maitrivanam.

- Countless restaurants (MV, Masala, Chilli) on Ameerpet main road.

3 kms from Yousufguda

- Needs - Kundan Bhag - behind Lifestyle

c) Getting a cook/maid

- Ask your watchman / neighbors, thats easier than placing an ad in the newspaper.

d) Can I get frozen roti (chapaati) somewhere?

- yes, Safal chapaati (not frozen)

- yes, those malaysian parata's - both available @ Spencers/ Foodworld and the likes.

anything else sir ? :-))

BTW, welcome to Hyd. rocking!!!
