daylight robbers

Sharing auto-drivers standing at Cyber tower, Hitech City, to go towards Ameerpet, charge a generic fare of 20/- wherever you get off. Also they just deny to take passengers for in-between stops, which they can't do legally. Surprisingly, locals also have no objection on that, and they are paying them happily. Being an outsider, obviously I can't fight with them, but seeing locals also obeying them is really shocking..
Not to speak of Hi-tech reserve auto-drivers. They ask like they are (or we are) from another world. Not even double (which is common in other parts of Hyderabad), they ask for three times sometime. It doesn't end here, at Hitech Rly Stn, reserve auto-drivers ask 80-90 rs for coming upto Cyber Gateway. The only term for them that come to my mind is 'daylight legal robbers'!!
One question, is there anything that we can do? Or we just take a yawn and say 'chalta hai'? Where to complain, coz I've seen them asking wrong fare in front of cops.

I understand that most of us come here to view topic only and not to reply. Still, if one wants to do something, I have got this.

http://www.aptransport.org/html/complaints.htm

complain on this website, without thinking that nothing will change with one person and one complain.

Alternatively, one can write directly to
aptransport@ap.gov.in

Note: Complain will attract more attention, if vehicle number is included

I have a friend who narrated this incident to me about the cops and complaining to them. He was commissioned by an IPS officer, the then deputy police commissioner of Hyderabad (some Anil Kumar), to do a software project for the Hyderabad traffic police for a few lakhs, after a one-on-one meeting with the then (high profile) Addl Commissioner A K Khan discussion specs, and then a Joint Commissioner too.

The DCP did not even give an official order, but told my friend to go ahead and trust him. The guy did it, and 6 months later, after getting the entire work done to his satisfaction, the DCP suddenly stopped taking calls or replying to mails. My friend never got paid, for no reason other than the DCP did not get the clearance from his boss for the project.

This same guy some 2 years later was asked for a bribe by a cop, and complained to the Addl Commissioner of Police for traffic (a Kaumudi, I think he's still in charge). Nothing happened despite repeated follow-ups over 4 months, and my friend finally wrote a stinker to the Addl CP about the lack of any action. The Addl CP called him to office one morning, then went off to a meeting himself totally forgetting this guy - the guy waited for a hour and returned. The next day he asked him to come again, and gave him a lecture on humility when writing to senior police officers.

My friend cribs about how constables cheat people out of hundreds of rupees, and IPS officers cheat them out of lakhs of rupees, and they don't have the courtesy to keep appointments or apologize later, and how then they give sermons on humility when people get angry.

But we need positive people like you who'll find all this out for themselves. Good luck :).
