Kashmir problem.needs bold, democrative and reallistic political iniciative to solve this chronic problem. Even in cease-fire people are being killed be armed men some in uniform and others in civilian cloths, causing not only deaths
but financil bleeding of our valuable and much need resources.
The problem of J&K has been on for the past 52 years mostly due to our refusal to accept it a problem at all. Firstly we called as an internal matter and refused any negociations. Due to world pressure and hard realities on the ground, we accepted to talk it but put a condition that it should be in the Indian frame work ignoring the fact that delay in treating this abcess causing heavy bleeding of our finacial resources. Now we are saying that we will talk to militants but not with Pakistan. We must accept the bitter fact that, Pakistan is a world recognised party to Kashmir dispute. Whole world including our close friend Russia also asks us to settle Kashmir proble by peaceful negociation with pakistan. Settling the Kashmir problem without involving Pakistan will not be a successful solution. The fact is not even a single country of the world supports our view on Kashmir as \' Internal Matter\'. This bitter fact was never disclosed to our poor nation.
Why people are killing and being killed. Why our 700,000 brave soldiers are stationed there causing very heavy financial burdun on our economy. It is said that daily 10 crores are being spent on Kashmir on the name of security without any positive results. Why Kashmiris have taken to the gun. This problem should be solved in democratic way and there is no better democratic way than public opinion. We must learn from Canada how they respected the opinion of Qubec people and decided for referendum. We are paying very heavy price to keep yhe Kashmir occupied.
After all we arranged a referendum in Sikkim when we annexed it to India against the wishes of then Ruler of sikkim Maharaja Chawgyal.
