FLood relief work for Godavari floods

by CTC » Wed Aug 09, 2006 2:16 pm

Floods from Godavari has badly afftected most of the E and west Godavari Dists. News reports show the callos attitude of Govt towards victims. All news channels show villagers trapped in floods and surging waters and none to rescue them. Since four days there were water all around leading to decaying of animal bodies (cows, buffalos, dogs and hens) in next few days these will give foul smell and spread diseases. Unless Govt sends relief there will be huge loss of Human life across all floods affceted districts. There should be voluntary contributions such a dry cloths and food grains to be sent to flood affected areas. Immediate action if not taken there will wide spread deaths.

How?

Well, that's a nice thought, but who is going to coordinate the effort? Has anybody/organization stepped forward announcing how voluntary donations will be collected and distributed? I really wish people started to understand why we need to be more involved in volunteer activities so that these things could be better coordinated.

Again proves the readiness of the government for the expected calamities
I have an attitude and I am not afraid to use it.

I am interested to work /contribute to my best possible way. I remember in 1996 when therewere floods we used to have contribution boxes for cloths and medicines near ATM's and banks.

Let's check

Well I'll try and see if I can find any info on the web regarding volunteer efforts that may already be under way. Otherwise we'll have to do some brainstorming and 'collection drives' if needed.
