After spending some time in Horanadu, we had no time to take the famous food offerings of the temple.

We had to start early, so that we could reach Udupi.

As usual mostly private buses operate in this area.

We started our journey from Kalassa towards a place called KARKALA at around 1145 hrs.

The route was wonderful passing through Kudremuk National park.

The kudremuk national park has high level of security.

There were jackals, monkeys and big mountain buffalos. A fox suddenly crossed the bus.

There are private taxis also operate in this area. They have some restrictions being the national park. If you travel in your own private car you should be a bit careful.

We reached Udupi at evening.

August Being off-season month there was not much tourist crowd in Udupi. There was rain too. We could immediately find a lodge over there. (Vyavahar Lodge,Opp. Sri Krishna Temple,Kanakadas Road)

They charged Rs 240/- per double room per day.

I recommend this place



Udupi Balakrishna is beautiful little temple.

They main deity is in a small room/hall. You can see the main deity through a window with nine holes.

The little Bal Krishna was looking wonderful.

That little child god is dressed with little dhoti. Wonderful.

Pilgrims will never be allowed to go inside the sanctum. Only priests can enter inside.

The same room has Madhwa Mutt also.

In front of this main room there is the sacred tank.

Now they are allowing everybody to go inside the tank and dip your feet.

When I went there young little priests were found in the side steps of the tank

As usual they provide food in afternoon and evening.

Brahmins are provided food in ground floor.

Others are provided in the Ist floor.

When I went there the young vedic studying priests were taking food.

I sat with my jeans. One of the boys yelled at me. Go to Ist floor. Go to 1st floor.

My relatives consoled me that my mistake was my jeans.

I took off my jean and started having the food with dhoti.

The food was below average.

The temple administration should improve the quality of food.

It was heavy rain outside. I took some snaps with my cyber shot.

Udupi temple as such is beautiful. What I feel, they can improve the facilities in future.
