I just happen to read the following article in DC, Can this be True? if It is ,then What kind of Human socity are we living in ? poor boy tied like a Dog ?

Cruel Gandhi chains boy to bed

Hyderabad Oct. 6: For nearly two months, it’s been a dog’s life for a 12-year-old unidentified boy in the Female Surgical Ward of Gandhi Hospital is pitiable.

He sits in the passage of the ward with pieces of bread and other food strewn all around him. A swarm of flies from the toilet which is adjacent to his bed, make him uneasy. He wants to move but cannot.

He is tied to the bed with a rope. Sometimes when he is too tired, he tries to climb the bed and sleep but he is just able to lie half over the bed with his legs dangling.

Unable to move, he urinates and defecates where he has been tied up and as a result is a stinking mess. And this has been his plight since he was admitted to the Gandhi Hospital two months ago.

He was brought to the hospital by the Bowenpally police on August 10, 2002. The case sheet of this boy mentions that he was found on the national highway near an accident spot.

“When he was brought here, he had an injury on the leg and head. Now he has recovered fully,” says a nurse in the ward. But they do not know why the boy was not sent to any children’s hospital.

When asked why the boy had been tied to the bed, the nurse said that the boy strayed into other wards and hence he was chained.

“Earlier they used to gag him because he used to shout and make strange noises. Other patients in the ward were disturbed and when they complained, the staff used to tie a cloth to his mouth. Of late he stopped shouting,” said Narsamma who’s sister is admitted to the same ward.

Neglected by the ward staff, the boy is surviving at the mercy of the people who visit the ward to meet other patients. They drop food near him which he nibbles all day long. The bed he has been provided is a rusted metallic cot with no mattress or blanket.

“He has developed sores and boils on his buttocks because of sitting on the floor continuously. I have been observing the boy for the last 20 days and I think his condition is getting worse day by day. Also he appears to be mentally challenged,” said Ashraf Ali whose wife is admitted to the same ward.

This boy was found near the Accident site ,what happen to his family? if the above article is true then what is the difference between Human beings and animals.

DEAR, JUST YESTERDAY I CREATED THE BOARD regarding common psychiatric disorders and their treatment. Now by this board I am pained too much. My strong condolences for the incident. My urgent suggestions are 1) the child should immediately be recovered and given proper care in a better atmosphere 2) all those incharge of that ward should be given strong punishment. The least will be to transfer them to Chitoor/Kuppam with short notice.

I happened to read this unfortunate nasty incident, and my heart pained. I wish I had the powers to terminate the Duty doctor, who claims he has never seen such a thing happen. I wish that the CM, who is so interested in children education, does something to save this litte soul, and to provide him a reasonable good basic comforts... I pray...

I think God has Answered my(our) Prayers,we have a happy ending, some NGO organisation has given shelter to the boy.

Gandhi’s victim rescued by NGO

Hyderabad Oct. 7: The 12-year-old boy who was neglected by Gandhi hospital staff for two months has finally found shelter in a children’s home run by an NGO Divya Disha.

The boy was rescued from the hospital by a team from Child Line on Monday. The rescue follows a report in Deccan Chronicle on Monday exposing the callous attitude of the Gandhi Hospital staff towards the boy for two months.

The team consisting of Child Line activists Lalita and Saroja took the boy to Divya Disha, an NGO which works in collaboration with Child Line in rescuing and rehabilitating destitute and street children.

He was given a bath and new clothes to wear. Though he was unable to speak anything the boy looked active and fresh. “We took him to Bowenpally police

station and informed the police about the rehabilitation of the boy. Later we took him to Sevashram, home for the disabled near Bible House in Secunderabad.

The authorities however refused to take the boy. Disappointed, the Child Line activists took him to the state home, Yousufguda where the authorities told them that they were full up and could not accommodate him.

As a last resort the Child Line activists took the boy back to Divya Disha a nodal organisation working for child rights.

He was given milk and snacks but did not consume them. “For some days we are going to keep him on a low diet. Once he recovers, he will be put on a regular diet,” said Isidore Philips of Divya Disha.

The boy was then shifted to Bala Niketan a children’s home run by Divya Disha in Uppal. The home holds children in the age group of 6-18 years. “Older boys can take care of this boy in the home,” he added.

He also said that there was not much movement in the body below the waist and the boy would be referred for medical treatment.

Sreenee, I am very happy to know that the boy is in good hands now. I hope the CM will take some severe action on the involved staff so that such a thing will never be repeated again by them.
