Remove the 'isms to make India a peaceful place

by akhilis2cool » Thu Apr 08, 2004 2:55 pm

Man there are so many different types of 'isms going around the world today.

Secularism, Consumerism, Christianism, Hinduism, Sikhism, Budhism, Jainism.

They add an ism to any thing and turn it into a contraversial topic to get their motives.

By 'they' I mean the people in the west. they have this very bad habit of dividing thoughts into different groups. but i surely think it adds top the woes of people around the world.

For e.g: I read that there is no mention of the word 'Hindu' any where in the vedas. The word was coined by people coming into India from the arab world. They were awestruck by the amt. of water avlbl. here. Hence the place started to being reffered to as Hindustan (land of water), and everybody staying here (irrespective of the cast, religion) was referred to as a Hindu.

Enter the Britishers and, they coined these terms (Hinduism, Christianism etc.) to divide the people into different groups to achieve there evil intentions, and ever since then there has been a barrage of these troublsome 'isms.

India has always been the worlds envy when it comes to the sheer number of different religions staying together peacefully. And in order to keep it that way we need to remove the divisions between the people.

I suggest there should be only one 'ism

And that should be INDIANISM :)

what say?

U C those bloody britishers sowed the seeds of divisions in the name of beliefs and we are having to bear the (bitter) fruits.

yes,

i dont see india turning into a nepal or a saudi arabia.

but then the basic fabric of india, its religious mix, is being used by the blody politicians to achieve there use less goals. thats what should be looked into.

This is not the appropriate thread for this post, but I didnt want to create another thread for this piece of news.

http://eenadu.net/story.asp?qry1=2&reccount=27

Thats from eenadu (Telugu). Naxal gets caught, says he will show their den, takes police to jungles, tries to steal the revolver from police, fires at them but never manages to injure police, the police fire in self defence and naxal dies. Deja-vu!

This story is routine, why dont the police try something different.

Dude Akhil, you seem to be contradicting yourself !

akhils2cool wrote:Post Subject: Remove the 'isms to make India a peaceful place

and then you so on to saying :
And that should be INDIANISM

how can you limit the idea of 'peace' just to India! That would just be patriotism...a poison we have been fed and still are being fed thru schoolbooks, newspapers, tv channel etc... all it does is stimulate racial egotism by telling us that our own country and way of life are better than others. patriotism just feeds our vanity from childhood to death.

there isn't going to be any peace until we realise that human beings are more important than national and ideological boundaries!

What the govt/neta does is our fault..they're after all our representatives! by relying on the govt, or some organisation and authorities all we are doing is circumventing our own resposibility in peace keeping.

Let's consider '-ITY's ...like humanity , integrity :D ..what say ?

on a less preachy note... Have you noticed that neither hindi nor saskrit have any word for 'religion' ? just wondering it ... prolly is true for a lot of other languages too. know any?

The word was coined by people coming into India from the arab world

yes, i think hindu is a word that referes to people living on the otherside of the Indus (sindhu).
