As I was going through the discussion, I realised one thing that kills a discussion is when it unconsiously turns into an arguement. No one ever wins an arguement but actually wins because he/she ends up making the other person resent him/her. So whats the big advantage we get by proving that we are one up over the other person And since these are discussion boards lets stick to the brief and discuss issues and try to gain more insights about a topic than just keep believing that what we know is the truth and that the other person always knows less.
Let me try to explain this using the present thread.
Well starting with the person who posted that link, he/she only wanted people to know what he/she felt about the issue at hand. The conclusions he/she draws from the various events in history are his/her own or (infact borrowed from someone else). The only way we got to react to that, is with questions to the interpretations already drawn which might not be clearly substantiated or by adding any information to prove that what has been said isnt the truth. But what we see usually is people telling him/her to take their views someplace else because they are supposed to spread hate?? Hate can be spread only in places where there is'nt love in the first place. so lets be assured of the feelings of love and mutual respect between us first so that no one can try and spread hate amongst us. Once we are assured of our own feelings and insecurities we can proceed to discuss about the topic....and remember not to get into an arguement because it kills the discussion.
There are soo many points in the present discussion about which i want to make my observations.
First about misplaced patriotism,, I dont think thats the right word. I think its confused patriotism, because the people who suscribe to the view that you are only patriotic if you make a loud display of it are mainly confused about the idea of patriotism in the first place. Patriotism is something you 'feel', its something that makes you feel inwardly proud if someone from your country does well or if your country does something good.

This i guess is the oscar which i have received for posting this thread. You have boosted my popularity enough by bragging about me so thanks once again . I am sure you would not know the pain of making a pic like that, u would not know the feelings and the thoughts that went into the making. You took a minute to give ur point of view but i spent hours together to compile that. Learn to respect the feelings of others before shooting off .

I dont want to build my credibility here ""I AM WHAT I AM"" i did not join the FHDB family to become popular, i thought of sharing a few thoughts and ideas with the members. I am already popular in my own way i dont need the boards for that. I might not be a celebrity but i have my own standing amongst my friends and in society. But just because one member has given me such a nice reward and a few other members want to enjoy the fun does not take away the credit from this wonderful family.
To make people happy and wish others takes a lot of giving and sharing so please dont demean it further.
i know u would blast back but thats ur style keep going. I am not a lady in distress i am a happy soul so just wanted to spread that around did not know it would be so complicated.

The title itself caught my attention. I am a new member here so would like to say my Hi to all of you. This post by enigma got me thinking for a while. One rotten apple can spoil the entire basket, same way comments given without much thought can cause damage beyond repair. Lets us learn to appreciate someone for they are doing something which you or me could not do or would not have even thought about. If you cant appreciate dont let them down for the boards might loose a valuable member.
