Someone even filed a case in the court against TNCA for scheduling matches during the monsoon times and demanded refund of money & sought a restraint order.

The chennai crowd must be dissappointed!

Across the globe, Australia steamrolled NZ.

Australia 252 (Ponting 63, Katich 54) beat New Zealand 105 in 27.4 overs by 147 runs

Of Captains ...

At Any Given Match ... The Rival Captains Look ... "Souravish" / "Sheepish" ... OR ... "Lionish" ...

Eg

1) Recent ODIs Between IND & SL ... The SL Captain Looked "Souravish" ... See The 1 - 6 "Drubbing" Received ...

2) ODIs With SA ... Roles seemed To Reverse ... With RD Looking "S-ish" ... SA ... Although Held Level ... Were More Aggressive

3) ODIs With India & Test Matches With ENG ... INZ Of PAK ... Looked "Lionish" ... He Inspired His Team ... BESTED The Opposition ...

Guys....can we please give Saurav a break now? He's gone through quite a bit. And anyone having done any of the following should not have been subject to such treatment. And Saurav has done it all.

1. Been India's most successful captain in tests.

2. Scored 10000 plus ODI runs.

3. Holds the world record for consecutive Man of the Match awards.

4. Is part of the 4th most successful opening partnership along with Sachin Tendulkar.

5. Is part of the world record opening stand in ODI's with Sachin Tendulkar.

6. Is part of the best 2nd wicket stand in WC cricket with Rahul Dravid.

7. Till a couple of months ago, held the record for the highest individual score by an Indian in ODI's.

8. Has scored 22 centuries in ODI's, second in the worldwide list only to Sachin Tendulkar.

Come on folks...even if he's past his age, which I don't agree with, but still. Someone who has done so much for the country, and to you all as cricket fans, doesn't deserve the treatment being meted out to him.

Why single out Saurav for the batting debacle? He came back to test cricket after a break. The other mainstream batsmen were in sparkling form though, weren't they? Why did they fail? If you've failed to notice, except for the first couple of ODI's against Lanka, Sachin himself has not been in good form. Why should he always get the stature of the team's statesman and Ganguly all the flak? No disrespect intended towards Sachin, he's indeed the best of what we've ever had, but doesn't this smack of absolute double standards? People giving him the "statesman" aura tend to forget that he was a miserable failure as a captain and it was Ganguly who laid the foundation of what is Team India today. Doesn't he merit the statesman position better?

As for the run outs, most of the people here would be surprised, as even I was, when I got this bit of trivia from ToI today. Rahul Dravid is the person who has maximum number of run-outs of batting partners. The great SMG comes next. Why single out Ganguly again?

But my question still remains unanswered. Why single out Ganguly alone? Why put only his performance under such a close scrutiny? And talking of a captain being Sauravish....here are some stats to munch on.

ODI's :

Mtchs Runs H.S. Av. 100's 50's

Saurav Overall 279 10123 183 40.65 22 60

Saurav as Captain 147 5104 144 38.66 11 30

Saurav as Cptn (India Won) 76 3359 144 51.67 9 19

Mtchs Runs H.S. Av. 100's 50's

Saurav Overall 85 5071 173 40.89 12 25

Saurav as Captain 49 2561 144 37.66 5 13

Saurav as Cptn (India Won) 21 1298 136 49.32 3 7

And while writing that long post about Sauravish captains, you probably forgot that being Sauravish is also about building a team from scratch (the aftermath of the betting scandal) to one of the top teams in the world.

I agree, to a certain extent. i thot he was a bit insecure at the time of the incident involving him and chappel. I hope he has learnt his lessons. he shd now forget abt becoming the captain and concentrate on batting (and bowling too :P )

If someone has acheived great things, he definitely deserves respect. But that doesnt mean he should be taken in the team because he has acheived so much in the past and doing nothing currently. If one is continously not making runs for more than a year, how can we keep him in the team when so many deserving domestic players are waiting for their chance in the national side.

If his time is not over and wants to be in the national side, he has to go back and play domestic cricket and prove himself that he deserves a place in the playing 11.

Most of the hue and cry against sourav is not because he is not playing, but because he expects selectors to take him for the national side inspite of not playing well for more than a year.

True that! But how do you explain Sachin being in the team then? His performance too hasn't been all that good of late except for the first couple of one-dayers.

And if performance was the issue, why is Zaheer Khan being ignored constantly? The reasons given are that he's not a team man. I fail to understand why this discord within the team ha to surface only with Chappel coming in.

As far as Saurav's case is concerned, I had no objections on his being left out of the team for a while. But then, he performed well in the couple of domestic matches he played in. And when he comes back to the team, his performance is singled out for criticism when the entire team fails. That's wrong.

Yes if sachin also continues with his present form, he should be dropped and asked to go back to domestic cricket. I believe that sachin wasn't dropped because he played some good innings now and then even though he was not showing any consistency, whereas saurav has totally stopped scoring runs for more than a year.

Never heard about the allegation of Zaheer not being a team player. Even I feel that he should be atleast in the final 15 if not in the playing 11.

yeah, he performed in two domestic matches and I feel that this is the reason why he is back in the team.

He played only one test in chennai and the match was only for namesake. Nobody should have pointed fingers against him for non performance in that. match

Sachin Scores 35th Test Hundred - No 1 Batsman In Test History! 8) :)

Sachin Scores 35th Test Hundred

New Delhi, December 10, 2005

After a year's wait, Sachin Tendulkar finally stepped away from shared glory to emerge as a sole leading century-maker in the history of Test cricket.

The Sri Lankans gave him a few anxious moments and the weight of the achievement seemed to be weighing on Tendulkar's shoulders as he tread through the 90s.

The crowd rose in applause as the batsman turned the ball down to square-leg for a single to complete his 35th Test hundred and surpass Sunil Gavaskar's record for the most number of Test centuries during the first innings of the second Test against Sri Lanka at the Feroze Shah Kotla ground in New Delhi on Saturday.

Tendulkar was 100 not out from 177 balls at the end of the first day of the Test.

Interestingly, it was the same venue where Gavaskar scored his 29th century to equal Sir Donald Bradman's record for most hundreds.

Tendulkar scored the record-breaking 35th hundred in his 124th Test. Before the match, he had scored 10134 in 198 Test innings at the average of 57.25.

The 32-year-old levelled with Gavaskar with a masterly 248 not out against Bangladesh in the first Test of the two match series, at the Bangabandhu stadium in Dhaka last December.
