How to eradicate corruption

by IR » Thu Jun 29, 2006 7:48 pm

It is pity that even after few decades there is no effort to eradicate corruption in public places. If few corrupt politicians are punished sternly, it is possible that all people below poverty can be uplifted with the accumulated money. Suggest steps to do that. Do we need Tagore or aparichitudu to do that?.

I say just legalise corruption, akin to lobbying. Free market forces will ensure that a job gets done for the least amount of bribe money, and avoid individual's needing to guess the possibility and amount of bribing,

Corrupt people be listed on web so that we know

by CTC » Fri Jun 30, 2006 10:45 pm

it will be good idea to post the people who are corrupt by those who suffered because of it. As we know the corrupt and the money they take we can be cautious and may induce a sense of shame in them. I people report it and give wide publicity branding it as a crime it may come down. For example I faced such situation when I went to medical examination to Gandhi hospital. I cleck was demanding money I protested. However he delayed sending report for 6 months. In another case the police officer who comes for passport verificatiion demanded money \ we did not give he has made teh case a indefinite delay. I suffered but I wish to share so people know where all corruption is there.

Exactly...but the bureaucracy is a monopoly. so price gouging could become a serious issue.

Shoot em all

by Sid » Sat Aug 26, 2006 2:22 pm

IMHO the only way is to shoot them dead, right at that spot. A bit extreme, but if u look at it, corruption is the only thing that has pulled this country down to where it is. So. As i was saying, when 5-10 of them die, the rest will p*** in their pants.

That should work out quite well. On the other hand, I think some of them should be given more compensation. Of course this is all unrealistic, and none of this can be done

My way

by VJ » Sat Aug 26, 2006 6:47 pm

My way of eradicating corruption from this country would be like this.

1)I would firstly employ only those who r interested for the post and r willing to work for the desired salary.

2)Increase the salaries of the govt employees and make them feel good about their designation and their role to be played in while working.

3)Necessary training before actually getting into the job, competitive with the private sectors. This could improve the spirit of the work among employees.

4)Compete with the private sectors so as to show that the govt employees are much better than those of private. This could be a big turning point for the government, people and the entire country. In this way the thought of being corrupted stays a bit far away atleast. I don't guarantee 100% success, but it doesn't provoke one from getting corrupted.

5) Show the real taste of social service by giving some examples of the Greats. This can stand as an motivating factor.

6)The govt has to conduct some research that where & why exactly is this corruption being originated. Based on that, measures can be taken to eradicate it.

7)The govt has to make the procedures too simple for the common man so that none has to approach the third party and going in the wrong way which can lead to corruption process.

8)The higher positions should be given only to those who are very sincere, competitive and can be an inspiration to the others.

Thats all I have for now in my mind. Wouldn't mind posting later if I have any.

If someone from the govt reading this and found any of my points can be taken into their administrative process, give me a big cheers by informing me as I'm in a desperate need of some form of encouragement. :(

bounty hunters in bihar

exactly what I'm thinking :) :)

One more idea, The govt. should employ bounty hunters who will be paid a ransom when they catch someone red-handedly (the bounty comes from the culprit, obviously)

You can also try employing the swiss methodology if things start to fail.

Eradicate Corruption

by VJ » Tue Sep 12, 2006 4:48 pm

Computerise every govt office and make simple the procedures of the cases to be solved. In this way the problems can be solved by just a click of the mouse. No need to wait, no need to pay extra money which can be termed as corruption etc etc. Everything should be computerised right from the rural areas to the cities.

Many facilities should be awarded to the employess working in the govt. offices much better comparing to the private sectors.

The funds r to be transferred to the respective offices based on their performance/result of the projects. Inspections should be done at every phase of the project and the errors can be removed or the funds manipulated can be questioned.

Invest in research on various problems rather than just following from the others. All the major universities and reputed colleges should be given permission to conduct research on various real life problems and the govt should encourage them by granting the funds for the problems solved. In this way the govt can rely on the universities rather than a private organisation in developing this country and obviously there is a very little chance of corruption.

Thats it for now. Goodluck....... :)

corruption

by frustrated » Wed Sep 20, 2006 4:58 pm

With 1 billion people in this country, no way corruption can be eradicated unless the law says that anyone found guilty of corruption will be charged as death sentence. Otherwise, corruption will be here to stay.

I'm a foreigner and I was here at Hyderabad airport 2 weeks ago. Once I landed and stepped into the airport, I was pulled aside and asked to open my hand-carry bag. It was just a bloody old budget SLR camera and the custom officer told me that I would have to pay US$450 tax for my camera. Only cameras less than 8000 rupees are tax free. Mind you, with 8000 rupees you can only buy a compact film camera. Since most of you are Indians here, can you please tell me is there such law???? I've been to everywhere in the world and have never encounter such claim!

I argued and argued with the officers (8 of them surrounded me), but I'm sure most of you know how it works in India. There was no chance for me to win that case. After 20 mins of trying to pretend dumb, the officer asked me straight on my face how much I can give. And I ended up having to hand in 1000 rupees without even having to hide the money. Luckily I didn't carry much in my purse.

If this is the way how it works in India's administration, I'm sorry to say that this will chase all the foreigners away from investing in this country. I do not know how these officers treat the locals, but as foreigner I felt the pinch!
