Everybody has the wrong idea that Sringeri is a strict orthodox shrine.
From my point it is a cool tourist place also.
It is situated in dense chikmagalur district forest areas. Really wonderful for nature lovers.
Sringeris most important place is the Sarada peetam.
Within that comlex lies the great Vidyashankar temple.
Immediately after reaching this place we got accommodation in the cottages. May be it was unseason month of August.
It was rainy August 2007.
The Tunga river (around which the sringeri mutt is situated) is famous for feeding the big fishes. I have published some photos in Google.
