It is no doubt that Dharmastala Manjunatha swamy temple is busier than ordinary temples. From Udupi direct buses are available to Dharmastala. It takes about four hours to reach there. You will be crossing lots and lots of temple run educational institutions before reaching that place.
You also come across numerous Choultry before reaching temple.
Temple is of typical kannada Tulu temple architecture. During last month August there was not much crowd over there. We could make free dharshan.
Male pilgrims are required to remove their shirts and bunions. There are so many dedicated guards; I think more disturbing than helping others.
Videos are constantly shown in television regarding the achievements of Sri D Veerendra Heggade, who is the main trustee of the temple. He is treated as a demi God there.
To the best of my knowledge Dharmastala is the only temple where coconut water is given as prasada theertha.
It is basically a Shiva temple.
Surprisingly Madhwa Brahmins perform the pooja over there.
The Famous/ ?? Infamous attraction about the temple is the dining hall.
They name it as Annapurani dining hall.
The size is very big.
But the quality was sub standard. We were served with rice and Rasam initially.
Before completing the Rasam part with in two minutes Sambar came.
Within next 5 minutes buttermilk came.
If they do some philanthropy, they can do it with some decorum. I think they are doing eyewash. I am sorry for commenting prasada of God.
Moreover the main trustee D Veerendra Heggade is considered as a second God.
I think as first god itself.
Manjunatha temple has a small museum.
The condition of all Choultry surrounding the temple seems to be pathetic. Some rooms even don’t have fans, cots. People have to collect mats from the devasthanam office.
Manjunatha temple has so many sub temples surrounding it.
We had no time to go there.
It was a different experience.
