Flyovers that start and end on the same road!

I am not able to comprehend the purpose this kind of flyovers.Agreed they are supposed to reduce traffic congestion but i am not finding much imporvement.Besides most of start and end on the same road,so you are basically going up and comming down. The only gainers - the Auto drivers who make an extra buck with a clean place to spit their never ending pan.I thought flyovers connect two strategic routes..either i am wrong..or the flyovers are..ANYONE!!

hi vivek...flyovers (the ones which start and end on the same road) does reduce the traffic...it makes the vehicles in one direction (the dir of the flyover) ....to contineously move....and don have to stop for the signal....thus reducing the traffic at the junction....

Hi firstly,i have no idea of what should i \"GUESS\" and do i know you?.Well, for all practical purposes flyovers should reduce traffic congestion. But frankly speaking, hyderabad does not suffer traffic congestion due to traffic overload, but because of the stupid driving behaviour hyderabadies exibit(including me... i have to no choice). Its \" As you like it\" kinda driving that goes with hyderabadies. So in such a case, flyovers don`t really help much. Its just UP and DOWN stuff.Consider a flyover, like that one near YMCA.Its goes up and comes down, and right where the signal is.When you come down there is this \'unmaned\' signal where you really don`t know whos is comming from where. And as far as those flyovers in hyderabad that is supposed to do what a flyover should normally do... they are under construction!!.ANY ONE FROM MCH OR SOMEONE CONNECTED TO THE CONTRACTORS !!

Ya surpriya Mr Guess is right, Sulphur dioxide level is quite low in Hyderabad. Probably what you mean was Flyovers in hyderabad gives us an opportunity to escape the \"high partical density\" areas!! Right?? But still i stand by my argument that flyovers are badly planned in hyderabad. There must be a one or two flyovers in hyderabad that would be serving some purpose, but thats what they call as fluke!

hi vivek....the kind of flyovers u said r not practical in india or atleast in all the big metropolitan cities ...bcuz of two reasons.....(1)economic constaints and (2)chaos city planning....in the present state do u think that is it possible to build such flyovers...i think such kinda flyovers r only practical in a well-planned city...like may b chandigarh...

Greetungs Mr Guess! In fact you are 100% right, flyovers are totaly jusitified in a wellplanned city like the one you stated. The purpose for which a flyover is build is to reduce traffic congestion right? How can that be accomplished? By diverting the traffic so that the traffic density can be reduced in a road of interest. Now,if a flyover begins and ends on the same road, what happens is, some part of the traffic goes up, while some remains down and at the end everyone meets in perhaps a more chaotic way. Try the flyover which begins after the Hymayat nagar (if you are a hyderabadi). But i must agree the Khairatabad one is doing a good job. Why? cuz it \"connects\", and not the \"up and down\" thing. ANYONE..

Flyovers which run several kilometers at a stretch are actually required in Hyderabad of this millineum. The flyovers which were completed in the last decade of 20 th century were actually studied and designed 10 years earlier ( 1986 to be specific ).Ever increasing population and ever declining driving sense among us,have all contributed to this chaotic situation. These kind of problems can only be solved if all our ministers including the chief start driving their own cars. Oh ! its day dreaming,so lets live with the realities, and be confined to our websites, rather than driving out and face pollution on jammed streets of our once beautiful city.
