What do you think of Mother's Day

by fullhyd.com » Wed May 04, 2011 7:39 pm

What do you think of Mother's Day? Do you think of it as yet another marketing opportunity for the evil card companies or do you take it seriously and go all out to pamper your mum? Tell us on our Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/fullhyderabad), and you could be the lucky winner of 2 passes to Prasads 4D FX! Winners will be announced on 5th May.

The culture came from the west where families live by divided..they thought they should have a day each for their father and mother. We should respect it as 'their culture'. As the 'nuclear family' culture growing here..fathers day, mothers day, get-together days be celebrated here too. It is easy to say we hate those cultures. Unfortunately everybody creeping into that system. People who are living in Joint Families..excuse..

This is purely a western culture where children meet and spend time with their mother only on that particular occasion. But in a country like INDIA where Mothers are respected, greeted and taken care of through out the year, a day called Mothers Day is not required

Not all days, You gift your mom with something special; so if there is a day where u can make it a special one for her, it is OK and is no way evil. Agree that it has become a marketing opportunity for some, but cards and gifts are also one of the ways you can show your love to your mother. And every mother would definitely love when on seeing her son/daughter trying to pamper her.

All days Mother takes care of us, loves us and does everything for us.

It's good to make her feel special on the Mother's Day.

The card companies are just offering their products on the Mothers Day to help us make our mother feel special. Can't say it as "marketing opportunity" completely.

And this question worked as reminder for me :D about Mother's Day.

Thanks FullHyd...!!!

"Mother's Day has become entirely commercialized.. you know Mother's Day was originally intended to promote peace.. not gift baskets and greeting cards.. I don't have to buy anything,What's more important, though, whether or not i buy flowers, is that i focus on the person, not the presents."I'm certainly in favor of honoring mothers, it's just that I don't want that original message to be lost".

We cant say it's completely a marketing strategy. It doesn't mean you don't love your mother if don't celebrate this day, though some upper-middle class and rich class people celebrate this day as an another day. It works well those people. As far me I don't need to celebrate a day for my mother, as she always there for me and I am there for her.
