No road subways in Hyderabad city

by sri » Fri Aug 02, 2002 5:36 pm

In other metro cities of India Subways(undergrounds pathways) have been constructed so that the walking commuters are benefitted very much to cross one end of the road to other.
In a city like hyderabad where there is not much traffic discipline the life for ordinary foot travellers is not guarenteed. They can expect Kailash daily. Will Mrchiefminister (Naidu) look in to the matter

the CM is right now too busy with the flyovers and then he is even more busy with his frequent trips to s\'pore.I surely do not think that he has time to think about subways at this point of time. Had this been related to some IT , CM would have surely thought about it.He cannot think beyond IT.

I\'ve found one sub-way in Hyderabad near the RTC cross roads. You too can go there and enjoy the feeling of passing in a sub-way :-)

No road subways in Hyderabad city

I personally believe rather than constructing millions of kms of roads in the city for the ever increaing commuters.....the best solution is rather laying tracks \"electric trains withi in the city....as one train at one time can accomodate atleast 3 to 400 ppl....n is more convenient to travel....more roads n subways are never a permamanant solution....waht say?

Can we really fault the government for the way we are? To some extent yes, i.e. they have displayed no vision or an eye for the practical problems. I think this is what happened to the subway constructed at Koti. Subways being what they are, need lighting. Of course there were lights to start with. But we honorable citizens, found a way of making a quick buck by stealing those lights and selling them. What good is a subway without lights? We the inventive citizens came up with a rather creative use of these dark places, to relieve our overfilled bladders. Consequence, we the subways had to be shutdown. It is clear as to how a poorly executed plan, combined with a thieving and dishonest citizenry ( I am not blaming all the citizens, remember the old proverb about one bad monkey) can derail the best intentions. I would argue that subways are way too expensive and do not serve the purpose. Overbridges made of metal are a much better and cheaper solution. The only impediment I can see is that it would be tough for those Ganesh statues to pass under them;)
