Birla Mandir steps are slippery

Recently I had the chance to go to birla mandir .Good and clean perumal(Vishnu) mandir. but you know the rocky steps are bit diazy(slippery).that s what i feel.If concerned authoraties can do something?

I think marble steps and water make a slipery combo. You know, I have an uncle who used to becopme very angry if we called it \'Birla\' mandir. He would always say call it Vishnu temple.

OK.I agree with you.Temples should not be called by individuals name.But common people call it as Birla mandir.Any story behind the name(Birla)?

When I was in Aliya there was no Birla Mandir and we used to climb Nowbath Pahad most of the time. We never used steps because it slippery. So no one care about to fix these steps. I had a freind called Aleem who fell down from the top of the Pahad and then we never go back on it.

Hyderabadi bhai, Birla Mandir is on Kala Pahad not on Nawbath Pahad. Nawab Pahad - usually referred as \"Hill Fort\" had steps from both approaches; from Band Lines and Adarshnagar.

dear MrKul, Well. You seems to be really more knowledgeble person. Must be the son of the twin city. Please tell how the Birla(sorry Vishnu temple) developed since earlier times. What was its earlier position? Any old photos are with you?

Dear Sri, I think there was nothing on Kala Pahad. We used to play in that area hunting for lizards and wild berries (Kamunis). Some people say that there was a small Gudi (Temple), maybe, it was a big mountain and we never covered the whole area. Birla Foundation built the temple over a period of time. What I remember was that they (Birla Foundation)wanted to build the access for devotees from the side where Taramandal is located now. Right in front of Home Science College and AG\'s office. However, the owners of that piece of land did not agree. Lemme check if I can find you some old photographs.

...presently it is situated in one of the posh area of the city. I am getting surprised how come it be a jungle.If anybody can give the idea about the old gudi(told by MrKul) and other datas? Bi the way MrKul which year you were playing?

Kulcha Bhai, Pahle to wahan par kuch nahin tha sirf Chatry ke siva, thoda bagh jaisa tha atraf mein. Aur kala pahad bhi nowbath pahad ka hi ek hissa tha. Masjid ke Aasar the yah nahin mujhe yaad nahi hai. Ab pata nahin kiya kiya hogaya. I was talking about early 70\'s. Waise Aap ki knowledge ka khayel hogaya.

Yes, the temple side of the pahad was called Kala Pahad and Naubath Pahad had a gazebo for viewing the city from the top. Tank Bund also had children\'s play area with swings slides and the like, which got inundated subsequently.

Isn\'t the Planetarium built on Nowbath Pahad? My school is on the foot of the Temple, its the sooper Vidyaranya. We used to climb half way upto the temple and sit on the rocks. I remember one occasion when it was raining on one side of the hill and where we were sitting was bright and sunny.
The temple has a library near the entrance. Must visit it next time.

I know there was a mosque in that area. I also use to visit in my childhood during the period h.e.h. the Nizam (Osman Ali Khan) meaning late 60\'s. There was also some documentary proof that it was the property of Waqf. There was dispute case about it. The case was deliberately lost so that Birla family can fulfill their ambitions of building the temple in highly elevated area of the twin cities. The people who were handling the case from the Waqf board side had received large sums of money from Birlas for not pursuing the case. Kulcha bhai being a historian has forgotten to mention this aspect of it or is it deliberate silence?
