Does Love Flow in Cyber-Space?

by Alexis » Thu Dec 02, 2004 8:42 pm

Hey everyone,

I have a friend at work, Neyla, who is married to the most amazing looking guy. Hes like Chippendale hotness. :P Kinda would remind you of a young Antonio Banderas, long hair and chiseled face and all.

Anyway, his name is Marcel. He works in my office as well. They are such a loving couple, its so cute how they act. So I asked them yesterday how and where they met. And I was surprised to find out that they had met on the internet.

Thats the first successful internet love story that ended up in marital bliss. Im so happy for them, theyre both very good hearted and nice people.

So now comes my question-----do you know any couples who met on the net? If you do, whats their status now? Going out? Married? Will get together soon? What?

Yeah, I know many couples, some married some just dating who met online.

I think there is a special connection with online love because its done without seeing the person when you first meet him/her. So its not based on the usual physical attraction.
Is that a pistol in your pocket, or are you pleased to meet me?

One of my close freinds in school met her guy online she actually is a white gal intrestingly enough she met a hyderbadi guy hehe that's how we become freinds acutally but yah they seem to be pretty darn happy with each other.. even the age difference between both of them is like 10 years! they are living toghter now and they wanna get married as soon as my freind finishes her school

Another freind also met her guy online and it's like a match made in heaven! they are sooo perfect for each other!

Yah i guess cyberlove is blooming .... but i am still skeptical about it because you never know if the other person is lying who they are.. well ppl can even lie about in person too but it's just meeting someone through intrent ain't my cup of tea.

Oh yeah, me too heard many happy endings. A childhood friend of mine met a girl online (both are hyderabadi) and after 6 months he married her. That was last year. After marriage, they lived seperately for one year and now she came to US and they are living togather.

Heard many other online love stories, but they didnt end in marriage.

Btw, anyone remember Kashmira shah? she acted in few movies, heard that she too married an american after dating online!

I personally do not believe that you can fall in love with someone just by chatting with them online, unless you get really lucky. Yes, there is no physical attraction which is good but at the same time, you do not really know the person. I find that people act differently online and in person. Since you do not know most people tha tyou see online, you can be more of yourself. Whereas, in person, I think that some people feel afraid to be themselves because others are acting differently or dressed differently.

I do know a friend who has an online relationship, ofcourse over the phone as well and they "dated" but I am just waititng to see what happends when they meet. They believe that they are "in love" but I do not think they'll know until they meeet.

And I'm happy for your friend Alexis.

I have dated people that I have met online but it doesnt last because they are very different in person- if I was to judge by other than appearance obviously. So that is just from my experience

I did believe in long distance relationships before and still do.

The physical aspect in a relationship is important for some, not all. Prioritizing aesthetic attributes in a mate over other more vital traits will result in a tragic end, most likely. Because lust cant compete with a good rapport and true love.

Not to say that good looking couples might not really be in love. Im just saying that you cant depend on a handsome/beautiful bf/gf to have a successful and happy relationship.

Wow. When Alexis talks, I feel as if she is reading out of a grammer book and/or dictionary because of how perfectly she can structure her sentences. Lol. I have some trouble with that

Oh wow I never knew that. Or did I? That is great. We have to talk more about that when we chat sometimes. I find journalism pretty interesting. 8) But not exactly something I would personally major in

You did know that! Ive mentioned that on yahoo when we chatted before.

Anyway, writing is something Ive done since I was a pre-teen. I love it so much I thought I'd make a career out of it.

Well, Im double-majoring though. Im getting into the movie-making business also. Film-making is something Ive always wanted to do right from the start....way back when I was a little girl.

So many success stories.

No wonder FH Netpals has so many members.
